What is Content Marketing?
The following is content marketing:
- Creating good, original content
- Posting that content to your blog and your social media
- Promoting that and other good relevant content that is of interest to your customers.
- Doing all the above consistently. That is maintaining your posting as regularly and predictably as possible.
Why Content Marketing?
It stands to reason that the more content you have on the web the more you will be found. The question is” how do you get enough content to be effective”? Writing content is time-consuming.
Outsourcing is a great way to manage the content but it is not always the answer either because that too has to be managed.
From personal experience, there is a great deal of time, frustration and discontent to pay for something that you have to read over before you publish, to make sure it is actually what you asked for, let alone relevant. Frequently it is written by somebody who has just used the information they have read on the web themselves and what they read tuners out to be written by somebody who has no idea what they are talking about.
Besides outsourcing does not speak to your audience in all the ways you want to.
Organic is Not Enough
You also have to do paid advertising because organic growth is slow and all too frequently UN-targeted. You cannot truly control where Google or the other search engines will place what you right.
There is some control through SEO (Search Engine Optimisation). Good SEO is also extremely time-consuming as the rules for this are constantly changing. I don’t know about you but I am constantly getting requests for a guest post on my own blog from people who are using very outdated and often totally counterproductive models of SEO.
Even if your SEO gets you on the right page there is no guarantee it will be high enough to be read enough to give you the traffic you desire or that you will stay there with the next Google slap.
Promotion Must be Targeted
In addition, whether it is organic or paid advertising has to be going to those you want it to or there is no point doing it.
Different Content is Marketed to Different Audiences
There is no such thing as a uniform audience. Whether you are promoting via paid advertising or organic growth you have to speak to the different groups within your audience. This too is time-consuming and only if managed correctly is it cost-effective. And you have to do retargeting because…
Retargeting is Massively Effective
You Should Create Some Content
That is, you should create some feature articles. Longer posts of your own. You don’t have to do this but it is highly recommended that you do this at least several times a year because it will highlight how you are different.
You should also continue to create your promotions. Straight up-selling messages.
These are then promoted by us along with the rest of your content.
Please note that you will pay for and be in control of how much you spend on advertising. We recommend $20 per day but you can vary that up or down according to your budget.
What are the Two Types of Content We Create?
Quotes:
These are stories that are shared only on Facebook with an introductory quote selected by one of our writers. Quotes link back to the original source.
Rich Summaries to increase your content:
These are stories that have been summarized and formatted to post on your blog to increase your content, then shared on Facebook as well as other social media you select.
Audience Growth is the Result
Quotes:
While quotes link back to the original source, every person who clicks on a quote post is added to your Page Audience for retargeting.
Rich Summaries:
Every person who clicks through to your website will be added to your Pixel Audience for retargeting.
Social Media
Quotes are promoted to your social media: Facebook primarily, Twitter and others that you identify (please be aware that not all social media can be catered for though we will do our best). This content drives audience growth, engagement and clicks to your site.
Your Blog
Twice weekly we will post Rich Summaries to your blog. Ongoing fresh content drives search and blog content drives site engagement.
Now, as long as you continue to pick stories and send us the links we will also make sure that the is a consistent and constant stream of content to help drive traffic to your site.
In Summary
- You Pick stories of interest to your market.
- You then send them to us indicating which one of the two content types you want the content to be. Either Quotes or Rich Summaries.
- You Should Create Some Content.
